New Netherland: An Exploration of a Dutch Colonial Settlement An Interdisciplinary Curriculum for the 7th Grade This curriculum is an interdisciplinary, team-teaching curricular guide. It contains seven lessons, with arts, language, science and social-science content, that focus on the Dutch colonial experience in New York. These lessons are aligned with New York State educational standards developed for the seventh grade. The guide is designed to be completed in a coordinated fashion, utilizing team teaching methodologies, and culminates with the administration of a Document-Based Question (DBQ) pertaining to developmental characteristics of the Dutch colony of New Netherland.
